MY CANTERBURY TALE
About this page
Hi all, it's Ryan:) Thank you for coming to this page. If you're reading this, you have likely helped shape me into the Ryan of today! Whether you are family, friend, former coworker, old neighbor, or anyone else I've had the pleasure to know - thank you for the role you've held in my life.

Your role has helped me find myself where I am today, which I am very excited to say is serving in the United Kingdom the ELCA’s Young Adults of Global Mission (YAGM) Program. Partnering with Time for God of the UK, I am placed in Canterbury, England volunteering at L’Arche Kent - a non-profit organization who celebrates people with disabilities and builds circles of support around them. I am a Live-In Support Assistant supporting individuals with disabilities with their daily activities while promoting their independence. From August 2022 through July 2023, I will be one of many young adults serving on behalf of the ELCA in 4 different country programs.
One of the main principles of YAGM is accompaniment - walking alongside global companions in a manner that practices mutuality, interdependence, and solidarity. As YAGMs, our mission is do less “doing” and more “being” – learning and growing together with the community we are placed in. I am excited to find myself in vulnerable situations, creating meaningful and impactful relationships, and ultimately growing in my faith while finding out a little bit about myself:)
